Coach: Brian Yocke

2024 record: 20-13-1 (CCS Division I championship)

While last year’s Central Coast Section championship is hardly ancient history, coach Brian Yocke has turned the page on the 2024 season, knowing that it means nothing heading into a new year.

If anything, the Monarchs’ championship only inspires the rest of an already talented WCAL and with the bulk of last year’s team graduated – including seven seniors who are playing college baseball this spring – Mitty will have to rely on a mostly new group of players this time around.

“I’m looking forward to seeing who will step up and fill those big shoes,” Yocke said.

He does have the luxury of bringing back Waylon Walsh, a senior shortstop who has already committed to play at Santa Clara in the fall, who is on the short list of top returning players in the WCAL after hitting .389 with 22 RBI a year ago.

“I'm a bit of an optimist, but I think we can win it again,” Walsh said. “We’ve got a lot of good young guys and some seniors who are ready to fill some holes.”

Mitty also returns Carson Seeger, who won five games and posted a 2.45 earned-run average in 2024, while outfielder Derek Allen figures to see an uptick in mound work after piecing together a 2.41 ERA last year.

First baseman Grayson Munoz hit .304 with two homers in 2024, while catcher Cooper Salter returns. Ethan Chase moved around the field last year, but figures to handle one of the outfield positions after starting as a freshman.

“I will always be confident in our program to play well,” Munoz said. “We have another talented group this year.”
