

Archer Horn hit his Peninsula-leading third home run of the season – a solo shot to lead off the bottom of the first inning – and St. Ignatius Prep got back above the .500 mark with a 6-2 victory over Menlo-Atherton at Fairmont Park.
Horn, the junior shortstop who has already committed to Stanford, added a double.
The Wildcats (3-2-2) took a 3-2 lead with two runs in the second and broke open the game with three in the third.
Horn walked and Emmett Johnson doubled. DJ Delaney followed with an RBI single and catcher AJ Wineinger delivered a two-run double to make it 6-2.
Eddie McCartney and Beau Shaffer combined to throw 3 2/3 innings of one-hit baseball. Shaffer struck out five in 2 2/3 innings and was credited with the pitching win.
Menlo-Atherton (5-4) – which has non-conference losses to Los Gatos, Mitty, Saint Francis and now St. Ignatius Prep – jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on Jimmy Zaharias' two-run double.
The Wildcats will be back in action on Saturday when the play Sacred Heart Cathedral in the annual Bruce Mahoney game at Oracle Park.

Sacred Heart Prep 4, Burlingame 1
Devin Saltzgaber allowed just two hits, while striking out 13 in seven innings of work Wednesday as the Gators won their PAL Bay Division opener against Burlingame.
Saltzgaber had a one-hit shutout going into the seventh inning but lost the shutout in Burlingame's final at bat. The senior southpaw finished the game with a 100-pitch effort.
The Gators (4-4) got two hits and an RBI from Connor Schmalzle, who continued his early-season tear. Daniel Gee, Thomas Maldow and Colin Bein drove in runs for Sacred Heart Prep.
Drew Gall and Liam Philibosian had doubles for the Panthers, who dropped their third straight game after a 4-0 start.

The King's Academy 4, Capuchino 1
Toby Trotter struck out 11 over six innings as the Knights opened the PAL Bay Division season with a big road win.
The same two teams will meet on Thursday in Sunnyvale.
The good news for Cap is they won't have to face Trotter again. The senior lefty had his most impressive outing of the season, scattering six hits over six innings before giving way to Taiyo Peterson, who picked up the save.
The King's Academy (5-2) scored all four of its runs in the fifth inning. With one out, Caleb Cong singled and consecutive walks to Skylar Lindquist and Dominic Myung loaded the bases for Justin Cho.
Cho delivered a two-run single that gave the Knights the lead for good. After a Nate Plata walk, Ethan Johnson hit a grounder to second base. He beat the throw to first to drive in one run and when the throw got away. a second run scored, making it 4-1.
Cho had three hits to lead The King's Academy, while Bryce Brooks and Will Hafer had two hits each for the Mustangs (5-4), who dropped their third straight game.

Los Altos 8, Carlmont 3
The Scots dropped another game in Santa Clara County – their third of the season, this time against a Los Altos team that improved to 5-1.
Jason Tofigh was Carlmont's only bright spot with two hits and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Los Altos was led by junior Derek Eltherington, who had homered, doubled and drove in two runs to pace an 11-hit attack.

The Tigers posted their most lopsided victory of the season by pounding out 11 hits and getting a strong pitching effort from Aiden James.
Luke Ornelas has his first home run of the season for Terra Nova (4-2-1). He added another hit and drove in four runs.
Sophomore left fielder Wes McDougal stole three bases and scored three runs, while Austin Snead and Evan Wilson had two hits each for the Tigers.

Woodside jumped all Summit Shasta and moved to the .500 mark for the first time this season thanks to an offensive attack that is enjoying a big week.
Trent Amaroso had four hits and drove in a pair, while Diego Perez added three hits, and Cruz Torres two. Anderson Comfort and Junior Cattaneo had two RBI each.
