When my brother and I launched this website in February, we promised ourselves we would never be shills to advertising dollars or other compromising corruption, and that PeninsulaPrepBaseball.com would be our way of giving today’s players a glimpse of what we grew up reading each day.

Today, I’m going back on that promise.

Well, sort of. I’m shilling a bit. But it's for a good reason.

So, please indulge me.

I’m writing this to promote my recently released novel, a book that helps to explain the current state of newspapers and why we felt the need for PeninsulaPrepBaseball.com.

“Dogs Chase Cars” is now available on Amazon.com. It tells the story of the downturn in the newspaper industry through the eyes of a longtime Kansas City sports columnist, who is driving into work one day expecting to be the latest casualty in a mass layoff.

The downsizing of the newspaper industry has created a trickle down where coverage of things like high school baseball is now not possible.

The book is filled with several sports stories but is more a tale about the importance of relationships – those that have endured and others that were allowed to fizzle – while illustrating the need for striking a balance between one’s homelife and career.

It’s a story of love shared by father and son and the lessons passed onto all of us during life’s journey. It’s a cautionary tale of chasing your dreams – and following your passions – but understanding that such a pursuit doesn’t come without sacrifice and pain, often times to those we love most.

I hope you’ll consider reading it soon. And thanks in advance. Click here for details.
