Coach: Erik Wagle

2024 record: 13-12-1

The Lancers graduated most of their offense from a year ago, but will be bolstered by what most consider to be the best freshman class on the Peninsula.

The Lancers kept three freshmen and two sophomores on their varsity squad – and all will contribute, says coach Erik Wagle. Relying on that kind of youthful contribution is almost unheard of in the WCAL, but this is a talented group that should keep Saint Francis competitive now and in the years to come.

“We will be very talented,” Wagle said. “Our freshmen and sophomores are very good. Our fortunes will hinge on how quickly they can get up to speed.”

Saint Francis does return a solid pitching staff that makes the Lancers formidable in the WCAL.

Nick Chow was a first-team all-league selection a year ago after going 3-2 with a 1.40 earned-run average. He’ll lead a rotation that includes Landon Kim (5-2, 1.88 ERA) and Ian McMahon (1.94 ERA), who had limited time on the mound.

Catcher Gino Cappeallazzo hit .318 and had a .464 on-base percentage last year. Utilityman Tanner Wall will move around on defense after hitting .351 in 2024. Aaron Bonini leads the outfield. He hit .286 a year ago.

The Lancers bring back sophomore Jack Leeper, who missed all last season with an injury. He made the Team USA Trials last summer and has been seeing time in all over the diamond this spring, including centerfield.
