The Tigers return three starters from a year ago, including Luke Ornelas, who posted a 2-0 record with 15 strikeouts and a 1.54 earned-run average in 14 innings of work last year.
First baseman JT Snead (.329 with 17 RBI and an .869 OPS) and catcher Joey Donati (.313 with 13 RBI and an .807 OPS) will be counted on to lead a young offense.
The return of pitcher and first baseman Aiden James, who was injured last season, will make Terra Nova better, coach Jared Milch said, adding that a 19-2 junior varsity season figures to help, too.
“There is no doubt we have some talent coming in,” Milch said. “Once they get some varsity experience under their belt, I can see us getting hot at the right time.”
The top newcomers include pitcher Jesse Martinez (5-0, 1.04 ERA), shortstop Brody Finale (.327 with 13 RBI) and third baseman Evan Wilson (.317 with 17 RBI).
