Here's an offering of the best matchups this week:
Monday
Terra Nova (0-0-1) at No. 4 Capuchino (3-0), 6:30 p.m.
The young Tigers – this year's Road Warriors – are talented and came within a blown home run call of beating Riordan in their opener. Instead, they settled for a tie. Capuchino, meanwhile, is poised to make a run at winning another CCS crown.
Tuesday
No. 7 The King's Academy (2-1) at Los Gatos (2-1), 3:30 p.m.
Both teams are stinging following close losses in tournament championship games. This one will feature two teams that figure to be in the mix for CCS tournament bids.
Wednesday
No. 4 Capuchino (3-0) at No. 3 Serra, 4 p.m.
The Padres play their home-opener after three straight wins in Atherton. They face a Mustangs team that beat them a year ago.
Thursday
No. 2 St. Ignatius Prep (1-0-1) at Carinal Newman
The Wildcats play the toughest schedule on the Peninsula, and this is just another challenge for Brian Pollzzie's squad.
Possible bonus game:
No. 6 Carlmont vs. No. 1 Valley Christian, 7:15 p.m. at MacDonald High
Both teams need to win Monday for this game to become a reality. We'll learn a lot about the Scots if this game comes to fruition.
Friday
Sacred Heart Prep (1-2) at No. 13 Riordan (2-0-1)
The Gators have pitching. The Crusaders can hit. Something's got to give.
Saturday
No. 9 Menlo-Atherton at No. 5 Saint Francis, 11 a.m.
Could be a pitching matchup between Bears junior Wes Peterson and Lancers senior Landon Kim, two members of PeninsulaPrepBaseball.com's Prime 31.
