Coach: Dan Rogers
2024 record: 21-3-1
Coach Dan Rogers doesn’t mince words. His Wildcats are going to be young this year, which will make defending their PAL Ocean Division crown a bigger challenge.
Still, he is excited by the chance of repeating last year’s 21-3-1 finish.
“We are going to be a competitive team,” he said. “We need our younger players to step up and fill crucial spots in our lineup.”
Many of those will be filled by a players who played on a junior varsity program last year that went 17-6.
“We are fortunate to have solid talent all throughout our program,” he said.
Rogers also has the luxury of having two of the Peninsula’s best returning players in senior pitcher Trent Amaroso and outfielder Cruz Torres.
Amaroso hit .350 with 12 doubles and an OPS of 1.018. On the mound, he had a 1.95 earned-run average and 45 strikeouts. He went 9-0 last season, the most wins by a Peninsula pitcher without a loss.
Torres, just a junior, who hit .418, had 28 hits and 21 RBIs as a junior while compiling an OPS at 1.018.
“This is a new group of guys who like to compete,” Torres said.
